ABOUT THE UJIL

"Ukrainian Journal of International Law" is the official printed edition of the All-Ukrainian public organization "Ukrainian Association of International Law". The Journal was founded in 1992. "Ukrainian Journal of International Law" is a quarterly; in response to urgent issues of international legal theory and practice, other important for Ukrainian and foreign international legal science and law enforcement events, Special issues of the Journal may be published.

The purpose of the publication is a thorough scientific development and popularization of international legal aspects of the development of Ukraine, highlighting its history and current position as a member of the international community; analysis of the current system of international legal order and the challenges facing it; comprehensive disclosure of domestic and foreign theories of international law; demonstration of modern trends in the development of international law.

Since 2014, the journal has aimed to develop theoretical and practical aspects of countering Russian aggression against Ukraine, analyze the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict, and identify ways to hold responsibility of Russia as an aggressor state, its officials guilty of unleashing an aggressive war, and all Russian international criminals accountable under international law.
The journal covers the current state of science and practice of international law in Ukraine, the state's foreign policy activities, its counteraction to Russian aggression, as well as aspects of the country's internal life that are influenced by or related to international relations and law.

One of the main goals of the journal is to consolidate Ukrainian international lawyers, diplomats, foreign economic experts and other specialists, to involve foreign international lawyers to counter Russian aggression and de-occupation of the entire territory of Ukraine, post-conflict regulation, to develop effective solutions in the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, to solve urgent practical and scientific problems facing the Ukrainian and international communities. The purpose of the publication is to highlight for the international community the achievements of Ukrainian scientists and practitioners, to demonstrate the international legal doctrine of Ukraine and the international legal concepts of domestic schools of international law.
In the context of the development of the law of the international community, which is oriented towards international civil society and its needs, the interdependence and mutual interest of international legal science and practice of all countries of the world are increasing. This publication proceeds from these positions.


The journal's objectives are:
publication of the results of theoretical and applied research in the field of international law, international relations and European integration, as well as coverage of current international legal processes, in particular in the following thematic areas:
• international public and international private law;
• European law and legal aspects of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration;
• research into the challenges and prospects of Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO;
• analysis of international legal documents (international treaties, decisions of international organizations, case law, etc.) and comments on them;
• research into national legislation in the context of Ukraine's international obligations;
• history of international legal activity and development of international legal doctrine;
• contribution of leading scientists and academic schools to the development of international law;
• review of modern publications, scientific trends and formation of bibliography on international law;
• publication of little-known and archival materials on international law;
• interdisciplinary research in the field of international law and international relations

The publication focuses on covering all aspects of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, studying the challenges facing Ukraine on its path to gaining membership in the EU and NATO, and proposing ways to address them.
"Ukrainian Journal of International Law" combines the publication of scientific articles and research with coverage of current events in international legal life and their analysis. The journal publishes current international legal documents (international treaties, decisions of international governmental and non-governmental organizations, court decisions, etc.), or national regulatory legal acts that are important for the international legal activities of the state or its fulfillment of its international obligations, and comments on them. The publication highlights the history of international legal activity, in particular Ukraine's, shows the role and contribution of key figures in international law, introduces the reader to the latest publications and news in the field of international law, in particular, the mandatory section of each last issue of the year is a bibliography of works on international law published during the year in Ukraine and abroad. The publication pays special attention to the publication of little-known or unknown materials (manuscripts, documents, publications) on international law.
"Ukrainian Journal of International Law" covers issues of international public law, international private law law, European law, comparative law and all internationally relevant aspects of the Ukrainian legal system.

The publication is bilingual (articles and materials are published in Ukrainian and/or English). All articles or comments to the materials undergo mandatory "blind review" [the reviewer receives an anonymous text and is not aware of who its author/authors are] by two reviewers before publication. All materials submitted to the editorial office (articles, reports, essays, comments, etc.) are published only if a positive conclusion of the "blind review" is received.

All publications in the "Ukrainian Journal of International Law" are free of charge for their authors.

The publisher of the journal is the All-Ukrainian Public Organization "Ukrainian Association of International Law".
"Ukrainian Journal of International Law" is an edition for scholars and practitioners of international law; domestic and foreign lawyers, judges, prosecutors; well-known scholars and beginners in law; civil servants, employees of international intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations; judges and arbitrators of Ukrainian and international courts and arbitrations; scholars and practitioners whose activities are related to international law.
